Located along the scenic south coast, Hove offers the best of both worlds. Access to all the cultural attractions of Brighton, but with a calmer, more laid-back atmosphere. For this reason, it’s very popular with families and older couples.

Hove is also less touristy, which makes it easier to find the ideal spot on the beach. With good transport links, plenty of green spaces and several shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes, it’s a great place to call home.

PROPERTY IN HOVE

There are plenty of attractive period houses in Hove. In the centre, you’ll find several Regency townhouses. With their elegant facades and generous internal dimensions, they are always highly sought after. Victorian and Edwardian terraces are also plentiful. They are ideal for young families and professionals. There are various detached and semi-detached properties for someone looking for something larger as well.

WHICH PART OF HOVE?

As you might imagine, seafront properties don’t stay on the letting market for long. As so many tenants desire to step out of their front door and onto the beach. There are plenty of other great areas in Hove, if you’re willing to live a little further away from the sea.

Poets Corner is a firm favourite with London commuters, as it’s close to Hove station. It’s also got a strong sense of community, thanks to the many independent businesses there. Likewise, Portland Road is a good place to start your search. It’s a family-friendly area and even better, it’s a little more affordable than the centre of town.

EASY COMMUTE

Hove is the ideal choice for tenants who want easy access to the capital. It takes just over an hour to reach London Bridge from Hove station. Also, Worthing and Chichester are a short journey from neighbouring train stations – Aldrington or Portslade.

The M23 and A23 are on your doorstep, which means it doesn’t take too long to reach South London. There is also an excellent bus service in the area, which goes to Brighton, Shoreham and further afield. As for flying, Gatwick Airport is only half an hour away.

WHY MOVE TO HOVE?

• Relaxing atmosphere. Hove is far more peaceful than Brighton, which really appeals to some tenants – particularly those looking to get away from the busy pace of London. Expect to find not only a quieter beach, but also plenty of green parks to relax in
• Café culture. If you love coffee, you’ll fit right in here. Hove is home to several excellent cafes, with one of the most renowned being Treacle & Co (famed for its generous cake portions). There are also some great restaurants, bars and pubs in the area.
• Good schools. There are a range of good schools to choose from here; including Hangleton Primary, rated Outstanding in a recent Ofsted report. For older children, there are three secondary schools close by – Blatchington Mill, Cardinal Newman Catholic and Hove Park School.

How do I know Hove so well?

I have been born and bred in Hove. My whole family has lived here for in excess of 90 years so there isn’t a place in Hove I don’t know of.

It was at first Brighton and Hove that were two towns. As part of the millennium celebrations they were granted city status and finally became one awesome place of Brighton and Hove. It is an incredibly tolerant and open place, it creates its own creativity and open people. There are various things you can do in Brighton and Hove such as the Royal Pavilion and Museum. Brighton Palace Pier, the laines and the North laine for shopping. There are various museums as well as the West Pier and the i360. The sea life centre, the Brighton Marina and the under cliff walk. Yellow wave beach sports, volks railway and the Madeira lift together with a huge amount of green spaces. You only have to drive out of Brighton and Hove no more than 10-15 minutes and you are on Devils Dyke and the Seven Sisters isn’t far away.

What isn’t there in Brighton! We even have a naturist beach.

Brighton has been called the gay capital of the United Kingdom for many many years and it has always attracted a very large LGBTQ Community. The city is very proud of its pride and Kemptown is the hub of the LGBTQ Life. The Pride parade attracts over 160,000 going from the beach to Preston Park, right through the centre of town. It is an amazing time to be in Brighton.
