• Ebaying

• Free lancing

These are becoming an increasing and popular way for students to make money by carrying out online surveys in their spare time. Research companies are always recruiting new members worldwide to answer surveys and test products.

Become a delivery rider or driver

Got a bicycle, motorbike or car. The kindle app is now available on any device so your global market is absolutely enormous. You can list your book from anything from £1.50 to £7.00 and earn up to 70% of the sale. The key to success with E-books is to create value, write non-fiction. Including information you have researched and complied it into a common problem ie secrets finding a job etc. It is an easy way of using an E-book.

Once your E-book is live on the kindle store it is important to get reviews to show it higher up in searches. Encourage readers to leave an honest review at the end of your book.

Affiliate marketing

If you have a social media following or a website, you can start making money immediately. You can do this by promoting all sorts of companies, products, services and offers online.

Sign up with a publisher on the Awin network. Check their offer blogs or browse the merchant listings to find something you think your followers will be interested in then grab the affiliate link and share it. If someone buys from your link you can make commission.

Mobile phone recycling

You can earn exceptional money and help the environment by recycling old phones and unused devices. You can even go around charity shops to see if there is anything until you get a few quid in this regard.

Get cash back when shopping

Not only a way to make money but also save money as a student. There are several cash back sites out there but obviously you need to be careful and read these through to be aware of any catches.

Get a part time job

A part time job is the obvious first choice and it is opted for by most students to supplement their student loan. It provides steady work and flow of income and you can gain valuable work experience.  Good jobs are not always easy to find.  It might be worth looking on the internet and signing up to a job board such as CV library.

Geeks of Fiverr

Fiverr is now the world’s largest market place for people to make money selling small services. What you can offer could be anything from writing and translating to social media posting, playing pranks and teaching and creating music, voice over, short creative clips for people round the world.

There are various default prices which are very small but they soon start to add up.

Review music for money

If you love music you make most of your business by reviewing unsigned bands and artists online with slice of the pie.com.

It will take a while to build up your reputation but some users on the site say that they have made up to as much as £40.00 per month.  This may not sound like much but if it is something that you enjoy then it shouldn’t be hard work.

Sell second-hand course books

A great way to make money is to buy other students’ textbooks at the end of the year. Then sell them after the fresher’s week – when the new intake of students knows what they need.

Competition

Entering competitions of course comes with no guarantees but there is a growing community of so-called comperes in the UK. Making up to £50,000.00 a year in all sorts of competitions.

These types of competitions vary from simple registration forms and Facebook page liking to answering questions correctly over the phone like a TV game contestant.

Mystery shop

Mystery shopping is easier than you think and can be rewarded handsomely. There are dozens of agencies that will pay you to visit all sorts of shops and restaurants to feedback on how they are performing.

Be an extra

Do you fancy yourself as a young actor or a person that wants to walk past in a background shot of something like Eastenders.  The pay isn’t bad sometimes it can be between £60.00 to £80.00 a day on average and you have hardly anything to do.  There are lots of agencies that are happy to place willing extras.  They make their money by taking a cut from your earnings so always ask what it is before you start the work.

Selling your old CDs, games and movies

If you are looking to make quick money, then selling your old bits and bobs and culling a room is always a good idea.  The best thing about it is you can rip all the songs and films onto your laptop from an external hard drive before selling them. In theory means that you are only selling the plastic and the artwork.

Dog walking and sitting

Dog sitting can be a big business for students. Especially people who have free time during the day when people are at work and worried about their pets at home.  You can almost make £8.00 an hour by walking a dog.

Work as a charity collector

This can be hard work and there is a lot of rejection but you have to be persistent.  If you are a bubbly person and personable this could be a great way of making student money.

Freelance work

Perhaps you enjoy writing, managing Facebook pages or doing a little bit of graphic design in your spare time.  There are so many freelance jobs out there that need simple skills or time that someone else might not have.

The best thing about freelance is that you can work for clients in the UK and around the world as long as you have an internet connection.

Sell items on Ebay

Everyone’s best friend when getting rid of junk is Ebay.  Online auctions are a sure way to turn that sleeveless jacket into absolute hard cash at an incredible figure.  Look at the trends and try to see what there are out there before you look at what you are selling.

YouTube videos

According to recent statistics videos are now watched on YouTube than more searches on google.  They recently introduced a partner programme where you can profit from making an uploaded video.  You receive a percentage of all the advertising revenue collected per 1000 views.  Depending on how successful you are you can make a lot of money. There are plenty of stories every week of more and more people making it a career.
